As you already know, heat season began on October 1st and will continue through May 31, 2018. However, as a result of Local Law 86 of 2017, the heating requirements have changed:
Property owners will continue to be required to maintain a minimum indoor temperature of at least 68° between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. when the outside temperature falls below 55°. However, owners are now required to maintain a minimum indoor temperature of 62° between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. with no outside temperature trigger.
Owners must comply with the City’s heat requirements to avoid violations. For more information on heat season, please visit HPD’s website.
